It is the most eagerly anticipated designer collaboration of the season - but it almost did not make it to Singapore.
The Christoper Kane for Topshop capsule collection, which has fashion fans around the world in a frenzy, was initially not slated to come here, but with the timely opening of Topshop's flagship store at Ion Orchard, Wing Tai Retail, which distributes the high-street label here, managed to convince the London headquarters to include the little red dot in the Kane mania, a spokesman for the brand said. At least half of the 39-piece collection by the 26-year-old Scottish designer is likely to reach Singapore.
Expect to see body-conscious pieces in fine, black gauze and evening dresses and camisoles embellished with oversized jewels. In a cheeky reference to the distinctive gorilla image that featured in his fall/winter 2008 collection, an alligator image is emblazoned on a jersey dress, T-shirt and bag in the Topshop collection, which will be available at Topshop Ion Orchard from October 1, with prices ranging from $99 to $399.
Looks like I've got to start saving up everyday, penny by penny.
